| Program Description |
| The optimal management of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is rapidly evolving. The 2007 Gastrointestinal Oncology Conference will provide an educational forum for presenting and discussing the latest advances in the broad field of GI cancer research, as well as critical issues relevant to the care of persons with GI cancer.

| This Conference will feature distinguished speakers covering a broad spectrum of topics ranging from basic science to clinical therapeutics. Presenters and discussants will explore current issues and debate controversial topics. This program should be of interest to professionals actively engaged clinically or scientifically in all facets of GI cancer research and care. |

After attending the Conference, participants will be able to: |

Discuss current trends in therapy and research for various GI cancers. |

Describe the molecular biology of GI cancers. |
• |
Present current trends in the therapy of colorectal cancer in the adjuvant and advanced settings. |

Understand the latest techniques in therapeutic endoscopy and liver cancer ablation. |

Determine when surgery is required in the management of localized esophageal cancer. |
• |
Discuss the role of surgery and chemoradiotherapy in the management of resectable gastric cancer. |
• |
Understand the role of radiotherapy in the management of pancreatic cancer. |
• |
Discuss the biology of Barrett’s metaplasia and its progression to carcinoma. |
